Photography came into my life in a moment that I wasn't expecting it.

Where are you from?

I’m from Barranquilla, Colombia. Now I live in Santiago, Chile.

When/how did you get into photography?

Well the photography came into my life in a moment that I wasn't expecting it.
In late 2013 I found some images on internet that took my breath away, those picture were incredible for me, something that I'd never saw before and from that moment I knew this is what I wanted to do. So that month I decided I wanted to buy a camera, and believe me, since that moment I've never  stopped shooting.

Tell us about your style of photography?

It is hard for me to define my style but I think I'm more into conceptual portraits and self portraits.

What camera equipment are you currently using?

  • Canon 6D
  • Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC
  • Canon 50mm 1.4 USM
  • Canon 100mm f/2 USM
  • Sigma 35 mm 1.4 Art (This is my favourite one)

Where are you getting inspiration/influence for your images?

Well I think for me a lot of my inspiration come from internet. I pass a lot of hours in front of my computer because of my work so I see a lot of things like illustrations, paintings, photographs. I think this is one of the things that most influence my work. Also I can mention some photographers that are a big inspiration for me: Alessio Albi, Laura Zalenga, David Uzochukwu, Dmitry Rogozhkin.

With color you can tell a whole story or change the total message of one picture.

Your images make a great use of color. What draws you to this type of aesthetic?

Well I think for me the color is as much important as is any other element in the picture, with color you can tell a whole story or change the total message of one picture. I think it’s the reason why I got so obsessed with color in general even though i'm never satisfied with my colors.

Tell us about your philosophy of how to shoot great images.

My philosophy is that a picture must to tell you something, for me this is the most important part.
Talking more about technical things, the light is so important and make a good use of it, also think about the color when you are shooting (Color wheel is a good friend), and the post processing that is going to take your picture to the next level.

What are you using to edit your images?

I use Lightroom 5, and Photoshop CC 2014.

What do you do when you’re not shooting?

Most of the time on internet seeing random stuff (pictures, videos or listening music), also I spend a lot of time reading thrillers novels and sketching ideas for my pictures.

Do you have a favourite image that you've taken?

I think this (photo below) is my favourite (Self portrait), because I was passing a difficult moment when i made this and it helped me a lot to move on.
